DISCIPLINE LOVES COMPANY
One of the most common reasons I hear for people not accepting the challenge is that their work requires that they travel too much and that would prevent them from succeeding.
During my first challenge, I traveled no less than three times in 12 weeks; each trip lasting four days to a week. My first business trip was, of course, the most challenging. So, I invited (or begged) my sister Sheri who worked with me to follow the program with me.
If you fear you’re about to fail, ask someone to help you! You’ll be doing both of you a favor. You’ll get company on your journey toward transformation, and your new friend in fitness will open their eyes to the body and the life that they, too, can have.
Look forward to more travel tips next week. For now, here are more strategies to remain disciplined and stay the course!
1.
Keep your eyes on the prize. Momentary temptations are so little compared to a lifetime of the new you. Concentrate on the big picture – what you’ll look like and feel like at the end of 12 weeks.
Look at where you used to be and where you are now – both internally and externally. You’ve made GREAT progress. Keep your eyes on the prize. Focus Forward.
2.
Remember this: It’s only food. Sometimes that chocolate, those chips, that pizza, that ice cream looks soooo delicious. But you know what? It’s only food. It will be there on free day. And your free meal will be here before you know it. No matter how good that food you are craving will taste, it’s nothing like the taste of success.
It is nothing compared to the new person that you are becoming.
Keep it in perspective. It’s only food.
3.
Set a timer to remind you when to eat. Some people, like me, are tempted to eat before it’s time to eat. Others, like Gino, need to be reminded not to skip their meals. While you are retraining your body give yourself the best chance to succeed. If you are home, you can set a kitchen timer. You may have an alarm on your watch, or even on your cell phone.
4.
It matters not what anybody else is doing. It ONLY matters what you do. Remain true to yourself and your goals.
5.
Some nights I can feel that I’m tempted to cheat. And the longer I hang out in the kitchen, the stronger the temptation becomes. I have found that it is helpful to GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN unless it is time to eat.
Keep on going. You’re doing so well!
We weren't always in-shape and healthy. Six years ago we realized our lives had spiraled out of control.
