TAKE THE WEEK OFF!

You heard me. Celebrate. Skip cardio and feel great about it. Look at those weights and say “naw, I’m not going to lift today.”

You won’t realize this now, and it may actually be quite scary to “fall off the wagon.” but you really need a break.

We specifically scheduled our first challenge to end immediately before a weeklong trip to Lake Powell. For an entire week we relaxed, didn’t think about our challenge at all.

When we got back, I can’t tell you how ready we were to jump back on to the program.

After our second 12-week challenge, we felt GREAT! We had achieved levels of fitness we’d never thought possible. We saw no reason to take a week off. We LOVED our lifestyle. So we kept going. Hard core.

Then it hit us. The storm after the calm. Because we never took a break, slowly it sneaked up on us. We got tired, resentful, and both developed awful attitudes. Weight workouts weren’t working out anymore, the meal plan was boring, cardio was almost painful.

Finally Donovan convinced us (almost forced us!) to take a week off. Getting the permission to take a break was one of the most invigorating things we could have done. After a week, we were back on track and loving our lives again.

So this week, take the week off. Enjoy it. Next week you will get back on track.
